Jim Shaw

Shaw is a co-founder and serves as president and chief executive officer of CapHarbor, LLC a service company dedicated to assisting investors who are using a 1031 tax-deferred exchange in their search for and acquisition of appropriate replacement property.

Jim brings 25 years of real estate experience to CapHarbor, having previously worked at such companies as Jones Lang Wootton, TRI, Haseko (California), Inc. and, immediately prior to forming CapHarbor, as the managing director of Cohen Financial’s Southern California region.

During his career, he has been involved in buying, selling, financing, leasing, and managing real estate with aggregate value of more than $3 billion and comprising virtually every form of real estate property.

Jim is particularly active in tenant in common (TIC) interests as a founding member of the Tenant in Common Association and a member of the OMNI Brokerage Investment Committee.  He is also an affiliate member of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators. 

Jim holds a California Real Estate Broker license and his NASD Series 22 & 63 licenses.  He is well recognized as an expert in his field and is a frequent speaker, author, and guest lecturer for numerous professional and educational organizations.
