Roberto M. Romero-Perez is a licensed attorney in Illinois with more than 20 years of professional experience and expertise in the field of tax-deferred exchanges ("1031 Exchanges"), real estate, estate planning and financial services analysis and operations.  Mr. Romero-Perez's office is located in Chicago, Illinois.

He formerly served as in-house attorney for Investment Property Exchange Services, Inc. (IPX1031), also located in Chicago, Illinois, where he structured complex 1031 Exchange transactions, including real and personal property tax-deferred exchange transactions ("1031 Exchanges"), and presented continuing professional education courses for accountants, attorneys, financial planners, and real estate professionals.

At IPX1031, which was part of the Chicago Title family of companies, he handled scores of trust and estate matters related to 1031 Exchange transactions. This exposed him to the world of "Artwork & Collectible" 1031 Exchanges which led to the development of this area into a specialized practice field. Mr. Romero-Perez published and edited the Quarterly Tax Deferred Exchange Newsletter.

In addition to being an attorney, Mr. Romero-Perez also has an extensive background in the world of banking from his tenure at J.P. Morgan Chase (formerly Bank One and First Chicago-NBD).  There, he completed assignments in the Corporate Trust, International Banking, Offshore Banking, and Cash & Capital Markets Departments.

Mr. Romero-Perez is a frequent lecturer on 1031 Exchange issues and has addressed professional groups including (among others) the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois CPA Society, Nebraska CPA Society, Missouri Land Title Association, University of Illinois and Real Estate Publishing Group's Regional Conferences.

He has participated on expert panels for Chicago Title's Wisconsin Real Estate Advisory Board, Citi SmithBarney, the East Coast Estate Planning Council and other Real Estate and Estate Planning organizations throughout the U.S.

His professional memberships include: The Chicago Bar Association, where he is a member of its Real Estate, Federal Taxation, and Estate Planning committees; The Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI), where he served on its Board of Directors; The Greater North Shore Estate & Financial Planning Council. In addition, he serves on several community organizations.

Mr. Romero-Perez earned his B. A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his JD and MBA degrees from DePaul University in Chicago.
